‘Flower Seller’: Acrylic on handmade paper. The greeting card is designed and painted in Chennai, Tamilnadu by Elijah John Mathew for fundraising for ‘The New Liberation Education Economic Development’, Trust.

Lakshmi, a single parent from an underprivileged background, a differently abled widow, a breadwinner and a flower seller, lives in Perungudi, Chennai. The devotees love the flowers, her designs and weaving cast a spell and so, she was making her daily livelihood by selling flowers. Every day, she sits near the temple pavement to sell flowers and waits for the water tanker to fill her pot. This was until the pandemic hit when she lost all her customers. Now she's a basket maker with Thalir-LEED, a women’s support group by ‘The New LEED’. She uses her creativity & craft to create eco-friendly customizable baskets from recycled plastic wires.
